A walk in the woods

One day this week during spring break, I was able to get away from work for most of the day to spend time with Stephan. We went for a several hour walk at a local nature center and park. And then we stopped at Culver's where Stephan chose a sundae with cookie dough chips & peanut butter cups! I wanted the day to be just me & Stephan doing whatever he wanted because we rarely have time just the two of us, but being the loving big brother he is, after he finished his ice cream, he wanted to get Norah from school to take her to the library. We also spent time in her class where he made the other kids laugh a lot. During his break, Stephan also went to Chicago for the night with Grammy to see a pirate exhibit at the Natural History Museum and ate at two "famous" local restaurants with two of his grandfathers. He and Gramps checked out the spy gadgets at the Safe House & he ate his first Solly's burger with Pops.

Mallard Lake

Every time we passed water, Stephan stopped to listen and comment on the beautiful sound. He told me he wants to download the sound of a babbling brook on his ipod.

We set out to find this waterfall at the beginning, but it was the last thing we saw on our walk. We got a little turned around & I'm pretty sure we were not on the real trails for a while.
